I'm Thankful For...

"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).

*My wife.

*The children He has given me to love and lead and how they teach me more about my relationship with God.

*The parents God gave me to follow as they followed Christ.

*My brothers and sister as life-long friends and supporters.

*My extended family with their love and care.

*Friends who know me and accept me anyway, who sharpen me as iron upon iron, who laugh with me, but correct me in love when needed.

*My daily bread, with butter and grape jelly.

*Education and especially for capable teachers who enjoy their work.

*Working transportation

*Air conditioning, (and heating for the other two weeks of the year).

*Able doctors and available medications when needed.

*Indoor plumbing with hot and cold running water.

*Electricity for all my modern conveniences.

*My glasses.

*The measure of health I enjoy.

"And when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, ‘Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me’" (1 Corinthians 11:24).

*The privilege to worship God.

*The blessing to worship freely in this country.

*The avenue of prayer to the Creator.

*The beautiful voices raised in song praising Him and exhorting one another.

*The privilege of being an ambassador of His good news to others.

*The unfathomable sacrifice He gave to save me.

*The beautiful creation He has made for me to live in.

*His love.

*His mercy.

*His longsuffering.

*The Bible in my language.

*The ability to read it.

*The simplicity of the gospel.

*The promise of heaven.

"...do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers" (Ephesians 1:16).

*Our qualified, caring shepherds who watch for my soul.

*The smiling people who greet me at the doors on Sunday.

*The young people who are taking a stand for the truth.

*The people who are physically hurting, but come to worship God and encourage me.

*Those who prepare the communion, the folding of the bulletins, the cleaning of the building and organizing the men to serve so that I can concentrate on worshiping God.

*Those who prepare and teach my children in the Bible classes with truth and love.

*The time, prayer, consideration, and love Dee and Bubba put into their sermons in an attempt to help me live better for the Lord.

*Those who record and duplicate the service so that others might be encouraged who cannot get out or who must gather in small congregations.

*Those who patiently wait and lock up the building after the services.

*Those who are preaching and teaching in difficult places with little encouragement, with their families.

*The memory of those saints who have gone on.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you"

(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
