Just Christians. Interested?
How To Get Divided Believers Together Again.
About Us, About You
We want to thank you for your visit to our services or for being interested enough in spiritual things to read this tract. We understand that there are many things that compete for your time and attention today.
The fact that you have chosen to make the Lord a part of your day speaks well of you. It says something to us about your interest in spiritual things. It says something about your regard for God and for His word. We admire that kind of enthusiasm. We would like for you in turn to know a little about us.
We are simple Christians.
Don't ask us, "What kind of Christians?" We don't know how to answer that question. We are just Christians. We have no creed written by men to unite us. There is no governing body or headquarters to which we answer.
We are simple Christians. We wear the name of Christ because it is Christ that we serve. We seek to follow His word, the Bible, as the sole authority for our doctrine and practice.
The Bible only we have found make Christians only. So naturally we are not some brand of Christian. We are just Christians.
We decry what has happened in the religious world as a result of the creeds that men have adopted and the councils which they have formed.
Many of us were once a part of denominationalism, the product of religious creeds and councils. But we have left that all behind and decided to get back to the Bible.
Back to the Bible
The creeds that men have written divide people. The councils that men have organized do the same. The Bible however unites people.
Surely God who created man and his faculties for speech and communication can write a book that men can understand alike. Don't you think He can? We believe He has done just that in the Bible.
In the Bible, God commands Christians to be united: "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgement" (1 Corinthians 1:10).
The Apostle Paul, who wrote half of the books in the New Testament, wrote, "by revelation there was made known to me the mystery, as I wrote before in brief. And by referring to this, when you read you can understand my insight into the mystery of hrist" (Ephesians 3:3-4). All that men would seek to understand about Christ, Paul said can be understood when we read the Bible.
We invite any questions you may have about our worship or beliefs. But don't be surprised if when you ask us a question we turn to a passage in your Bible and let you read it for yourself. It is our wish to please God. The only way we can be certain that we meet with His approval is to abide by His word. And since we believe that everyone can understand the Bible alike, we won't just tell you what it says. We want you to read it for yourself to make sure that we've not told you wrong.
Let's Get Together
Now you may have heard like we often have that "you can prove anything with the Bible." But before you decide that this business of understanding the Bible alike is all silliness, be honest.
Have you really read the Bible to know for yourself whether or not we can be united on its contents.
According to the passage cited earlier, the Lord expects there to be "no divisions among us" (1 Corinthians 1:10). If God thinks it's important for us to get together on His word, shouldn't you?
Give us a chance. Sit down at the kitchen table and study the Bible with us. We're just ordinary folks who want to go to heaven. We won't pressure you in any way. We won't use any embarrassing tactics. And we won't ask you for any money.

About Our People
Our Elders: These men watch out for the souls of our people. They shepherd the flock. They make the decisions about the direction of the work at Southside in teaching the lost and in building up the community of believers. Just like shepherds over the sheepfold the lead us, they feed us, and they hasten to rescue the sheep who are straying.
Our Deacons: The word deacon means "servant." These men have agreed to be at the disposal of our people. They see to the care of our facilities, the scheduling of our services, the arrangement and mobilization of our people to meet various obligations both material and spiritual. They are the hands and feet of the church.
Our Preachers: We support three evangelists who share the responsibility of preaching in our assemblies. At times they may say things that are uncomfortable for you. Occasionally, they are for us. But it is their responsibility to convict men to follow the word of God. And their message we hope you'll see is motivated by love for men's souls. They are the mouthpiece for our people, broadcasting the message of the risen Savior.
Our Members: We are big and small, tall and short, male and female, dark and fair complected, wrinkled and smooth skinned. We differ in our backgrounds, occupations, hobbies and talents. But we are one people. We have a common profession--that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We have no creed but the Bible. We have no head but the Lord. We are united in seeking one another's growth, in saving the lost, and in glorifying our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
