Chuck Durham
Chuck Durham was born in the West Texas town of Littlefield on April 19, 1958. He received his education from Texas Tech University (B.A. in Finance, 1980). Chuck and his wife, Wilna (Lucas), have been married for 44 years. Their son, Jonathan, is now 38. They also have four adopt-a-granddaughters: Layla, Lydia, Violet and Amy and one adopt-a-grandson: Silas.
Brother Durham studied under James Trigg and W. L. Wharton at the Highland Boulevard church in San Antonio, Texas during the summers of 1978 and 1979. The following year, he came to Southside to work with Dee Bowman as the third young preacher in the training program. He was here for the very first Southside Lectures in 1980.
Chuck has done effective local work wherever he has labored. He has preached in Longview, Texas (1982-1991), Louisville, Kentucky (1991-1996), Coppell, Texas (1996-2000), Mexia, Texas (2000-2006), and College Station, Texas (2006-2019). He presently works with the Westside congregation in Springdale, Arkansas, where he also serves as one of the shepherds.
In addition to preaching, brother Durham is also a capable writer. He served as a co-editor of Focus Magazine from 2000-2004 and contributed regular articles during the publication of Biblical Insights. On the page and in the pulpit, he takes the text of Scripture and aims for the heart.
